Driveways / Block Paving


Below is an example of a job where drop-kerbs were added to allow access across a pavement and on to a new driveway. We are council registered and approved to provide this service.

Hardcode base laid to at least 150mm   50mm layer of sharp sand added and compressed using a wacker
The pathway is dug out and replaced with hardcore to council specification, and is suitable for vehicle crossing.   The tarmac base is added.

Then a 6mm tarmac wearing course is added.   The finished job.


This driveway consists of several gravel and cobble sections and a traditional style cobble courtyard.

 
     


This was an extension to an existing drive to allow additional parking space. The pictures show the various stages involved.

The hardcode base is laid to a minimum depth of 150mm and the wacker used to compact, with a suitable number of passes.   Sharp sand is laid (50mm) and again compressed using the wacker.

The blocks are then laid.   Kiln dried sand is brushed over the tops of the blocks, and the wacker is once again used with a suitable number of passes to vibrate the sand between the bricks.

The drainage being installed.   The concreate footpath and soil area from the driveway to the rear of the house was also replaced with Indian flagged paving.
